Shimna Stars Special Olympics Club based in Newcastle Co.Down
Shimna Stars Special Olympics Club has 30 athletes participating in Basketball. The Club is managed and run by 20 volunteers, who give of their time freely to support the athletes and help them develop their sporting skills.
Special Olympics is an all-Ireland sports organisation for people with an intellectual disability. Shimna Stars Special Olympics Club is one of 104 Special Olympics Clubs in Northern Ireland. Like the other clubs the volunteers of Shimna Stars Special Olympics Club are committed to offering people with an intellectual disability the opportunity to be part of a team and to enjoy the benefits of participating in sport in their own locality.
