Computer Safety Awareness Training
Many thanks to all those athletes, family members and volunteers who attended the Computer Safety Awareness talk. I am sure we are all a lot wiser now to how to maintain our safety on the internet and other mobile devices.
Thanks to Ian for his very informative talk.
Ian expressed his thanks for the invite.
A note of caution from one of our athletes:
Facebook: My story is about Facebook. The Police came to basketball and talked about Facebook and Internet Safety. We all watched a video in which a wee girl was showing and saying where she lived, she was aged 10, Simon said he was aged 13 but he was really aged between 30 - 40 years.
I picked this article as it was really interesting........................... Don't ever put any photos or personal details on Facebook.

At the recent AGM..........
Club Manager Daniel Hardy commended the Club on its numerous successes in the 2012/2013 year. Not only did the male senior team win the Special Olympics Ulster Basketball B League in only its first year of competitive play but no fewer than four athletes from the Club have been selected to participate in the Special Olympics Ireland Games in Limerick in June 2014.
The club’s success has presented new challenges, not least the increase in fundraising efforts required to subsidise travel to League dates and the cost involved in sending athletes to the Special Olympics Ireland Games but also the need to maintain and increase our volunteer base.
If you feel that you can support the club in any way, either as a volunteer or as a sponsor, please do not hesitate to contact the club on 07936296015. Alternatively, feel free to come along to any training session to get a feel for what we offer. Training sessions are held in Shimna Integrated College each Tuesday from 6.30pm.
Sessions resume on the 7th January 2014 after the Christmas break.
