Limerick Special Olympics Ireland 2014
After 3 days of intensive competition Team Ulster Basketball Teams emerged from Limerick with Silver and Bronze Medals. Team Ulster Ladies winning Silver and the Male Teams winning Silver and Bronze Medals.
Starring on Team Ulster (1) were Shimna Stars players Glenn McBride and Liam Hennessy both receiving Silver Medals.
On Team Ulster (2) were Shimna players Peter Watts and Sean Brannigan both receiving Bronze Medals.
Congratulations and well done from all at Shimna Stars.
All competing athletes had a truly wonderful weekend and at the magnificent UL Arena and complex. Many thanks to all the coaches and to Special Olympics Ulster for their encouragement and support. A wonderful experience for all involved meeting and making new friends and working as a team.

Shimna Stars Special Olympics Club is proud and privileged to have had 5 athletes nominated to participate in basketball with Team Ulster for the 2014 Special Olympics Ireland Games being held in Limerick in June.
Four athletes have taken up the offer and have been training with their new team mates each month in Antrim Forum in preparation for the games.
