Final preparations
This week sees the final preparations for the remaining fixtures in Letterkenny.
Everyone needs to ensure good composure, proper rest and attitude for these fixtures.
As this is our first year in the league, it would be a great honour for the club and team members to emerge as winners.

Congratulations and well done to all who attended Round 3 of the Basketball league. Another great day out and well deserved victory over Ards SOC. Depending on other results of course, this win should see Shimna top of the league with two games to play in June.
Well played lads and once again a great credit to Families and Club.
After another tremendous win over Ards SOC, Shimna Stars Special Olympics Club with two games remaining are aiming to take the Special Olympics Ulster Basketball Division 2 League title at the first attempt.
On the front foot from the outset Shimna took the game to Ards and ran into an early lead. At the end of the first quarter Shimna were in command 12 points to 3 points.
Strong defensive work restricted Ards to shooting from distance and to their credit they were successful on three occasions.
A strong third quarter once again saw Shimna take an unassailable lead into the final quarter. Niall and Patrick secured victory with several fast breaks to leave the final score: Shimna Stars 24 – Ards SOC 12.
The final series of games will be played in Letterkenny in early June.
Squad:,Liam,Patrick,Glenn,David,Niall,Larry and Peter

Saturday 9th February
Congratulations to the athletes and volunteers who undertook the journey to Derry for round 2 of the basketball league. A very worthwhile journey as Shimna Stars emerged undefeated after playing tough games against Antrim SOC and a physical encounter against Monaghan SOC.
Game 1
Shimna showed their determination from the start against Antrim and quickly forced the opposition on to the back foot. Always alert on the fast-break top scorer on the day Patrick was dynamic in the attack. He was well supported by Niall, Glenn and David as they ran up a final score of 20 points to defeat a defensive Antrim by 10 points: Shimna 20 - Antrim 10.
Game 2 was a more physical affair very strictly refereed by a league official. After a somewhat slow start Aaron proved to be the match winner with 10 points and great display of taking the opportunities when they arise. Once again ably supported by Peter,Glenn and Patrick another bonus point was gained as the final score was Shimna 26 - Monaghan 2. This game featured the entire squad which enabled Sean to get in a lot of game time and valuable experience for all. Re-bounders Larry and Liam worked hard under the boards while Glenn, Sean and Niall made sure Aaron,David and Peter had a plentiful supply of the ball.
Well done to all the athletes:
Squad: Aaron,Sean,Liam,Patrick,Glenn,David,Niall,Larry and Peter
Special Olympics Ulster have sent an email congratulating all the athletes on their level of skill and performance at the last league and grading day. Those attending were very impressed by the attitude and ability of the athletes.
Keep-up the good work.
